Youth unemployment in southern Spain and Greece is high. At the same time, municipalities are looking for specialists in the energy sector. Numerous buildings have to be renovated and the use of solar energy promises great advantages for the coming years. The ZEW-Klima project studied the potential and feasibility of a targeted training of young job-seeking experts for locally required tasks. These could, for example, carry out energy audits at schools. Overall, the study authors estimate that climate action could create a six-figure number of jobs in Spain and Greece.
