Background
1,500 municipalities in Poland feature revitalisation programmes. These are affected by the recently adopted legislation that requires private and public refurbishments to meet sustainability standards. To implement climate-friendly refurbishments, municipality officials, property owners and property managers need to acquire additional knowledge and skills.
Project
The EDINA project developed a toolkit for improving the energy efficiency of residential buildings in revitalisation areas. This contains information and methods for comprehensively increasing the energy efficiency of buildings in revitalisation areas. Special attention was paid to improve the technical performance of buildings in the context of investment processes in Poland. It also lists successful examples of energy retrofits of residential buildings and integrated approaches to energy efficiency in residential areas in German cities. Based on the toolkit, the project developed guidelines and conducted trainings for private house owners and representatives of public administrations. The trainings and seminars provided expertise and capacity to improve energy efficiency in private facilities through renovation measures. An energy efficiency calculator, developed as part of the project, raises environmental awareness for users of renovation projects. Furthermore, the project organised workshops with professionals and experts from Poland and a study trip to Germany to exchange expertise and best practices.
State of Results
- The project connected municipal revitalisation experts, policy makers, property owners and representatives of housing communities and cooperatives to share knowledge and best practices regarding energy retrofits in the revitalisation process.
- The Energy and Efficiency Standards for Energy Retrofit in Revitalisation Process developed by the project and the toolkit were included in the National Knowledge Center for Revitalisation. In addition, the materials were sent to the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy, the Ministry of Climate Change and the Polish Association of Cities to support revitalisation activities.
