Accelerating Romania’s Renewable Future

dflip

The RenewLand project supports Romanian authorities in implementing the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), offering practical guidance on spatial planning, permitting, and Renewable Acceleration Areas (RAAs).

The guide sets out a policy framework for integrated RAA planning, covering land use coordination, governance, and grid integration, while ensuring environmental and social safeguards. It calls for institutional reforms, improved data systems, and early public engagement.

The publication also presents a methodology for mapping and designating RAAs using GIS and Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) tools, available here.

The publication is available in English and Romanian.
