EUKI project Sustainable Finance for Industry Decarbonisation accelerates decarbonisation in Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia by providing key knowledge to heavy-emitting industries, financial institutions, and policymakers. It assesses current decarbonisation efforts, creates a policy and financing roadmap, and offers workshops on climate strategies and sustainable finance.

This report examines the EUKI Community Conference 2022, held in Prague, which addressed the implementation challenges of the EU’s climate goals in the Czech Republic. The conference, organised by the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy in collaboration with the European Climate Initiative (EUKI), provided a platform for discussing the impacts of the EU’s Green Deal during the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union. It highlights key achievements such as the revision of the Effort Sharing Regulation (ESR) and stricter CO2 targets for vehicles, illustrating the EU’s commitment to ambitious climate action amidst geopolitical and energy crises. The report also underscores the Czech Republic’s ongoing reliance on fossil fuels, the critical role of civil society in driving the Green Transition, and the necessity of international partnerships for securing green energy and raw materials, emphasising the need for coordinated European efforts.
