Declaration International Youth Climate Summit

dflip

EUKI project Sustainaware educates youth in Slovenia and Hungary on climate change and action through non-formal learning, fostering climate literacy and engagement across the region.

This Declaration outlines the demands of Sustainaware participants at the International Youth Climate Summit held in Ljubljana, Slovenia (7–8 July 2022). The Summit focused on SDGs 3, 10, and 13, highlighting the critical role of youth in climate action, health, and equality. Sustainaware participants emphasised the need for stronger support for non-formal education, fair access to quality learning, and science-based policymaking. They called for investments in renewable energy, sustainable transport, decentralised governance, and inclusive urban planning. Further, they urged policymakers to empower young people, address systemic inequalities, and integrate climate justice and degrowth into mainstream economic and political discourse. The Declaration was further supported by 53 Slovenian and Hungarian stakeholders, including two National Youth Councils and the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth.
