Developing Ambitious Local Long-Term Climate Neutrality Strategies

dflip

EUKI project Ready4NetZero advances climate neutrality in Eastern European cities by equipping municipal staff in Croatia, Hungary, Poland, and Romania with resources and training on sustainable strategies. Through web seminars, workshops, and a study visit to Germany, local authorities gain skills to develop long-term climate plans in energy, transport, construction, and education sectors. Pilot actions in eight cities will map stakeholders and create roadmaps to net zero by 2050, with a media campaign inspiring wider EU adoption.

The publication provides a roadmap for cities to achieve climate neutrality through comprehensive Local Long-Term Climate Strategies (LLCS). It details best practices from cities like Kempten, Bydgoszcz, and Brașov, focusing on inclusive governance, community engagement, and sustainable financing. Kempten’s Climate Plan 2035 and Bydgoszcz’s SECAP showcase effective pathways to reduce emissions and foster renewable energy use. By promoting collaborative urban planning, innovative public participation methods, and green infrastructure, the guide encourages cities to lead Europe’s transition to climate-neutral, resilient urban spaces.
