Mapping Renewable Energy Sources Potentials, Challenges, and Opportunities in Albania

dflip

EUKI project RenewStart for Hydrogen Technologies promotes renewable energy and hydrogen integration in Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, and Albania. It builds a multinational consortium across key sectors to raise awareness, attract investment, and enhance market growth.

The publication outlines key steps for Albania to diversify its energy mix, especially solar and wind potential alongside its reliance on hydropower. This shift aims to reduce dependency on imports and enhance energy security. To achieve these goals, Albania is implementing legal reforms aligned with EU directives and supporting renewable energy communities. The country faces challenges such as fluctuating electricity production and financial pressures on state power companies. Strengthening grid infrastructure, regulatory clarity, and skill development are crucial for Albania’s energy transition and long-term sustainability.
