Methane Mitigation Action Plans – Guidelines for EU Member States

dflip

EUKI project Integrated Approach to Methane Emissions Abatement facilitates the development of integrated methane mitigation plans in Lithuania, Poland, and Romania by equipping representatives from government, industry, civil society, and research with knowledge, tools, guidelines, and tailored policy options. Through baseline assessments and sector-specific workshops, the project identifies key emission sources and strengthens national capacities to design integrated methane mitigation plans in line with EU climate goals.

The publication “Methane Mitigation Action Plans – Guidelines for EU Member States” provides a structured framework for designing national methane action plans. It outlines key steps, including emissions quantification, target setting, implementation pathways, and monitoring systems. The policy brief highlights the importance of cross-sector coordination, robust data and reporting, and stakeholder engagement. It also emphasises alignment with EU policies and global commitments such as the Global Methane Pledge.
