Lessons Learned Report: Supporting Solar Energy Communities in SEE

dflip

EUKI project SunSharing promotes the development of solar photovoltaic-based energy communities and crowdfunding initiatives in Southeastern Europe, strengthening citizen participation, policy frameworks, and cross-border cooperation to accelerate the energy transition in Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, and North Macedonia.

The Lessons Learnt report highlights how the initiative contributes to power sector decarbonisation, strengthens energy security, and reduces reliance on fossil fuels by supporting the installation of solar PV technologies. It focuses on the critical role of municipalities, NGOs, and legal frameworks in advancing energy communities, alongside the need for financial incentives and citizen participation. Best practices, case studies, and policy recommendations aim to facilitate replication and shape national policies that support citizen-led energy initiatives. By promoting local empowerment, economic growth, and environmental sustainability, the project paves the way for a more resilient and decentralised renewable energy future in Southeastern Europe.
