“The EUKI project ‘Training of Managers for Urban Redevelopment in Lithuania’ marked a strategic turning point for Birštonas. The energy efficiency programme developed as part of the project served as a key foundation for the creation of the national guidelines for the regeneration of neighbourhoods in Lithuania. This EUKI experience enabled us to move beyond planning and towards the practical implementation of ambitious changes. Today, Birštonas is proud to be the national leader in terms of the proportion of energy-efficiently renovated blocks of flats. The knowledge gained has become a catalyst for a sustainable future that reduces energy consumption and ensures a higher quality of life for our community.”

“With the support of the EUKI project EDU-CLIC, a plan to improve operational processes and a specialised training programme for landfill operators were developed with a view to transforming the Srem–Mačva regional landfill into a modern demonstration centre for municipal waste management. By diverting 317.17 tonnes of agricultural biomass from the landfill, the project achieved a reduction in CH₄ emissions of 43.7 tonnes. Most of this biomass was converted into 70.1 tonnes of briquettes and pellets, which helped households in need to stay warm during the heating season whilst reducing the environmental impact.”

“Through the EUKI-supported project, climate action and energy efficiency were systematically embedded in teacher training and school practice in Bulgaria. Since 2019, close to 100 kindergartens and schools have implemented the developed curriculum, reaching more than 50,000 students to date. As the curriculum became mandatory for all institutions financed through NTEF’s ongoing energy efficiency programmes, new cohorts of students and new institutions are engaged every year, ensuring long-term impact, behavioural change, and sustained greenhouse gas emission reductions within the education system.”

“The EUKI-funded MediterRE3 project has developed a Landscape Action Plan for the Luberon Regional Natural Park, providing a shared, operational framework for preventive fire management at the landscape scale. Several actions identified in the LAP are currently being integrated into the official Forest Fire Protection Massif Plan, supporting long-term institutional uptake. This process strengthens coordination among public authorities and practitioners and equips the territory with a concrete tool to reduce wildfire risk, enhance climate resilience and contribute to lowering greenhouse gas emissions from forest fires.”

We develop evidence-based solutions and act as thought leaders for the climate-friendly transformation of the energy sector. Our aim is to achieve a secure, clean and affordable energy supply for the region.”

“Thanks to EUKI funding, the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad have trained over 1,600 young professionals from 14 Central and Eastern European countries to become Energy Scouts as part of the Young Energy Europe project. The Energy Scouts receive energy efficiency training, with the aim of applying their newly acquired knowledge in a practical project within their company. This reduces energy costs and resource consumption, as well as CO₂ emissions, in the participating companies. Since 2018, Energy Scouts have successfully identified potential savings of over 200 GWh of electricity and over 160,000 tonnes of CO₂ in the workplace.”

„In our Clean Heat project, EUKI funding enabled us to conduct analyses of air pollution in the country and draft strategies or low-emission heat generation.
