EUKI Academy Web Seminar: The Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU

This web seminar, hosted by the EUKI Academy and CAN (Climate Action Network) Europe, will explore the opportunities for (CEE) civil society to shape energy and climate policies during Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. With the Presidency starting on January 1, 2025, the event will focus on key issues such as energy security, combating climate disinformation, and ensuring a socially responsible energy transition. Participants will gain insights on how civil society can contribute to the EU’s climate goals while promoting innovation, cohesion among Member States, and global competitiveness.

The Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU, starting on January 1, 2025, marks a pivotal moment as the new European Commission begins implementing its priorities and strategic directions for the year ahead. Amidst the complex European political landscape, including developments in France and Germany, the Polish Presidency provides an opportunity to bring its national and regional perspectives to EU debates. Key topics of this web seminar include energy security, combating climate disinformation, and prioritising people at the heart of the energy transition and climate action.

The following questions will be considered: How can these six months be leveraged to guide the European Union toward a socially responsible implementation of energy and climate policies, while enhancing global competitiveness and fostering cohesion among member states? And what role can civil society play in enriching the Polish Presidency’s plans and actions with innovative and inclusive approaches?

This web seminar is designed for the EUKI community, CAN Europe members, and other stakeholders passionate about advancing energy and climate policies within the EU framework.

Key experts from CAN Europe and the EUKI Community will share their perspectives and engage in a dynamic discussion with participants:
