This Web Seminar aims to provide participants with insights into the progress the European Green Deal (EGD) has driven in Central and Eastern Europe and how the next phase of the EGD, along with the future of climate action, can address remaining gaps in achieving the region’s energy goals committed to at COP28, including through a just transition. The event will focus on how regional leadership has advanced decarbonisation progress in CEE, the impacts of the June 2024 European elections, and the new Commission.

This Web Seminar is specifically aimed at stakeholders in CEE who are focusing on climate action. Understanding current political shifts and their implications for the Green Deal can significantly enhance your strategies and project effectiveness. Join us to learn about the latest developments, explore ways to leverage EU support for your energy transition initiatives, and discuss what is needed from the new EU College.

Web Seminar Topics:

  • Review of progress the European Green Deal has driven in Central and Eastern Europe and achievements made through regional and local authorities’ leadership.
  • Analysis of the impact of the June 2024 European elections and the new European Commission on climate policy.
  • Discussion on how the next phase of the EGD can support CEE countries in facilitating a just transition towards the 2030 climate targets, as well as new ambitions for 2040.
  • Strategies for overcoming challenges, especially on a socio-economic level, for the region’s energy transition.
