Electrification of Public Transport: Cieszyn on the Path to Sustainability

Topics: Climate-Neutral Mobility Mobility

Countries: Poland

The city of Cieszyn in Poland converted its municipal bus fleet to 66% electric vehicles by the end of 2023. EUKI project Ready4NetZero supported the city in taking this significant step towards sustainable mobility. Ready4NetZero provided technical training and strategic planning. These measures not only significantly reduce CO₂ emissions in public transport but also raise citizens' awareness of environmentally friendly transport options. It is estimated that the city could save up to 1,000 tons of CO₂ annually. Absorbing that amount of CO₂ in one year would take roughly 50,000 trees.
