EUKI Academy Web Seminar: The Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU
This is the recording of the EUKI Academy web seminar “The Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU“, held on 29 June 2026. It was co-hosted with CAN Europe, Stop Climate Chaos, the Irish Environmental Network and the European Environmental Bureau. The web seminar explores Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which began on 1 July, focusing on its priorities of competitiveness, security and values, and the opportunities to advance climate action despite growing challenges. The session featured speakers from the Irish government, European civil society organisations and environmental networks. They discussed Ireland’s climate and environmental agenda, lessons from previous EU Council presidencies, negotiations on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and how to anchor multilaterlism in the next presidency. This was concluded by fomulating recommendations for an ambitious presidency.
