The last virtual study tour within the EUKI project Three4Climate took the participants to Maribor and Kranj (Slovenia) in October 2021. The host cities presented their climate action activities in different areas to the project partner cities Loulé and Braga (Portugal) as well as Bielefeld and Radolfzell (Germany). Through videos and expert presentations, visitors were able to experience the cities, learn about exciting projects and exchange ideas with their peers.

To join a teacher exchange visit to Loulé in Portugal organized as part of the Three4Climate project, the two teachers from Bielefeld in Germany Jens Ohlemeyer and Tobias Dewald developed the challenging plan to undertake this long-distance journey with three different kinds of locally emission free means of transport: an electric car, the train and electric bicycles.

The Three4Climate project connects six cities and six schools from Germany, Portugal and Slovenia to enable exchange and cooperation on local climate action. As part of the project, students from each school took part in a climate neutrality contest. As a prize, the winners were invited to participate in a joint weekend with the Three4Climate partner organization in their country.

As part of the project, the participating schools in Slovenia (Kranj, Maribor) and in Portugal (Braga, Loulé) organized Climate Action Days with numerous and diverse activities for students to learn but also inform others in their schools and municipalities about climate change and how everyone can contribute to mitigating its severe impacts.

In the Three4Climate project, representatives from Braga and Loulé (Portugal), as well as Maribor and Kranj (Slovenia) explored climate protection projects in Germany. With videos, expert presentations and live Q&As, the virtual study tour took them to the cities of Bielefeld and Radolfzell.

What is your vision of a climate neutral city, school, country or world in 2050? Students from the Three4Climate schools in Germany, Portugal and Slovenia were invited to come up with creative ideas to answer this question and take part in a student contest. Their submissions included essays, models, drawings and self-made videos.

In the Three4Climate (T4C) Campus school edition, teachers and headmasters from the six Three4Climate schools discussed barriers and solutions for integrating climate action into teaching.

The Three4Climate Campus series offers both schools and municipalities the possibility of horizontal exchange with one another in regular meetings.
