Navigating Climate Scepticism
#EUKICON26 || Day 1 || 02:00 PM
The workshop offers a hands-on and concise introduction to understanding climate scepticism and responding to it effectively.
Description
Civil society organisations working on climate action are increasingly confronted with climate-related scepticism and misinformation that challenge public acceptance of climate policies and complicate their work.
Participants will gain insight into common narratives and argumentation patterns used by climate sceptics and explore the dynamics through which misinformation spreads and resonates in public debates. Building on this, the workshop presents constructive, fact-based, and audience-oriented communication approaches that enable organisations to respond in a credible and relatable way – without reinforcing confrontational or defensive dynamics.
Through short examples, facilitated discussion, and peer exchange, participants will reflect on their own experiences and develop initial response strategies tailored to their everyday work and limited resources. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a stronger understanding of the dynamics of climate scepticism and recommendations for engaging with it confidently and strategically.
