Participants explored the process of implementing the 15-minute city concept from multiple stakeholder perspectives.

Summary

The workshop addressed the practical implementation of the 15-minute city concept as a response to key urban challenges: limited public space, climate adaptation, ageing population, road safety, car dependency and competing stakeholder interests. Using Prague 7 as a real-life example, the session showed that a 15-minute city is not only about infrastructure or technology, but also about values, priorities and political choices. The methods combined a short conceptual introduction, practical case-based learning, and a stakeholder simulation. Participants worked in three groups representing politicians, residents and civil society organisations, preparing priorities, compromises and arguments for a simulated city negotiation. The workshop resulted in a better understanding of the trade-offs behind urban transformation, especially around parking, safety, greenery, cycling and accessibility. Participants experienced how difficult—but necessary—it is to balance climate goals, quality of life and political feasibility.
