Briefing: Mixed Signals from the European Commission

dflip

EUKI Project A+ Approach to Enhance Energy Transition supports local authorities in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries in leading the decarbonisation process. It ensures a fair energy transition through increased access to EU funds and capacity-building activities.

This briefing explores how recent EU policy developments, including the European Affordable Housing Plan and the mid-term review of EU cohesion policy funds could shape the energy transformation of the building sector in Central and Eastern Europe. It highlights successful examples from the region where energy efficiency is being used to support building renovation, improve housing affordability, and address the current housing crisis. The report also provides practical insights for policymakers, public authorities, and civil society, on how future funding programmes, calls, eligibility rules, and selection criteria can better integrate affordable housing with energy efficiency.
