From Data to Action: Czechia’s Guide to EU Methane Compliance

dflip

The I-MER (Implementing the EU Methane Emission Regulation) project supports Czech authorities in implementing the EU Methane Regulation (EU-MER), providing hands-on guidance for public bodies involved in monitoring, enforcement, and reporting across the energy sector.
The guide outlines responsibilities for ministries and competent authorities, with a focus on leak detection, inspections, data verification, and methane reduction from coal mines, oil and gas sites, and fossil fuel imports. It underscores the importance of adequate resources, institutional independence, and clear governance structures.
The publication also addresses country-specific gaps, such as outdated inventories and limited emissions data, while presenting plans for training, stakeholder engagement, and pilot projects to strengthen national implementation.

The publication is available in English.
