Manual: Key Success Factors for Creating Natural Carbon Sinks with Farmers

EUKI project Landcare Europe promotes climate-friendly farming in Germany, Lithuania, Romania, Croatia, and the Czech Republic by developing policy recommendations for future CAP measures. It organises workshops, field visits, and farmer training to improve carbon sequestration in agricultural landscapes.

The publication titled „Key Success Factors for Creating Natural Carbon Sinks with Farmers“ addresses the role of agricultural landscapes in climate change mitigation. It emphasizes the importance of farmers as key stakeholders in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable practices. The manual outlines four primary focus areas: healthy soils, extensively managed grasslands, agroforestry systems, and peatlands with paludiculture. It provides best practice examples and policy recommendations aimed at enhancing carbon sequestration. Additionally, Landcare associations are highlighted as crucial facilitators, offering support and fostering collaboration between farmers and various stakeholders to promote climate-friendly agriculture.
