The Sustainable Energy and Housing Concept for Luník IX

dflip

EUKI project Empowering Roma Communities in the Green Deal promotes the active participation of Roma communities in climate and environmental decision-making. It supports inclusive governance, strengthens local capacities, and fosters cooperation between civil society, academia, and public institutions.

This study explores how rooftop solar and community energy sharing can transform local energy demand into an opportunity for sustainable development in Luník IX, a district of Košice, in Slovakia. Covering 18 metering points with a combined annual electricity consumption of approximately 1.24 GWh, the study compares different investment scenarios, financing options, CO₂ savings, and implementation risks. The result is a practical roadmap for a future local energy system that combines renewable energy with social infrastructure such as schools, housing, a laundry, and a bakery.
