12. Mai 2021 - Reshaping mobility – towards a climate-friendly mobility in CEE

COVID-19 has changed the way we travel. On one hand, the number of travels for holiday and leisure reasons has decreased rapidly. Lockdown measures and the new popularity of “home offices” added to this development. At the same time there has been a shift in the use of transport means.

This online event will feature two exciting projects of the European Climate Initiative currently underway that are investigating how to increase mobility options, while reducing their negative repercussions such as CO2 emissions, air pollution, traffic congestion and noise pollution. Both projects explore how to realistically apply best practices on the ground. Special attention is given to the promotion of zero emission and low carbon modes of transport, that could replace some emissions intensive modes of transport.

The policies and measures affecting the transport sector tend to have a narrow focus on only a few modes of transport and ignore numerous opportunities to make mobility more sustainable. During this event we will present approaches that looks at an existing policy framework to identify overlaps and gaps. Reducing overlaps can make policy measures more efficient, and gaps can be closed by utilising best practices already adopted in other places.

This event is open to anyone interested in sustainable, high quality mobility. Inputs and ideas on how to increase the relevance of the projects’ outputs during or after the event will be very welcome.

This webseminar takes place on 12 May 2021, 11:00-12:30 CET via MS Teams. The session will be held in English.
