This publication by EUKI project Retrofit Hub summarizes two years of experience and results from “Renovation and retrofitting of old buildings in times of climate crisis”. The guidelines contained in this publication will make it easier for governmental units to choose the optimal scope of renovation measures, technologies and materials that are safe for buildings, ecologically sustainable and effectively reduce the financial and environmental costs of work undertaken, the costs of using objects after renovation and their total carbon footprint.

The EUKI project ClimArchiNet completed in April 2022 and supported the transformation of the building sector towards carbon neutrality in Slovakia and the Czech Republic as proposed by the European Green Deal. This analysis summarises the findings and experience gained in the course of the project and highlights the problems and challenges of sustainable construction in the Slovak Republic. It also presents recommendations and innovative solutions to help the construction sector contribute to the (Slovak) goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
Transformation of the Construction Sector in Slovakia towards Carbon Neutrality – Identification of Problems, Barriers and Recommendations
Energy communities have great potential to support a socially just transition in the energy sector. However, inequalities in gender distribution thwart this development. This paper by REScoop.eu, the implementing organisation of EUKI project EUCENA, aims to understand the status quo of gender, structure, perceptions, needs and integration of gender and women in energy communities. Based on survey results, it sheds light on the perspectives of community members, board members, and staff on their gender, role, and position in their organisations. It also proposes strategies to mainstream gender in policies and practices.

The 5th edition of the International Conference on Economics and Social Sciences (ICESS), was organized by the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (BUES), on the 16-17 of June 2022, at BUES, and online. This year’s conference theme, “Fostering recovery through metaverse business modelling”, invited researchers, Ph.D. students, and practitioners. The EUKI project EUCENA – European Citizen Energy Academy published a best practice guide for South East Europe featuring inspiring community energy initiatives in the Balkan region. The goal of this publication is to illustrate good practices of energy communities in the region and to inspire citizens to launch their own citizen energy communities, following the steps of the frontrunning initiatives.

The publication shows how to implement climate friendly kitchens in schools. The EUKI project Clikis Network has put together a handbook that can be used by schools, educators, administrative staff in schools to make better climate-friendly menus and to reduce the energy outputs. This survey by EUKI project Climate Heros tracks the level of awareness and engagement of youth regarding matters related to wildlife preservation, climate change and sustainable development in Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and the Czech Republic.
