Aquatic Environment Green Growth Agreement Denmark

Factsheet: Action Plans for the Aquatic Environment and Green Growth Agreement (Denmark)

Denmark has been a forerunner in climate policy for several decades. Also emissions of the agricultural sector have fallen significantly over the past years. The main policies that Denmark has been relying on over the last decades are the Action Plans for the Aquatic Environment (APAEs) and later in 2009 the Agreement on Green Growth (GGA), tackling mainly high nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions and implementing the EU Nitrates Directive and the EU Water Framework Directive. The study by adelphi and Navigant examines the transferability to the German context.

Report: Impacts and Consequences of the Adopted Climate Action Regulation

The European Union’s (EU) largest climate change mitigation tool, the now named Climate Action Regulation (CAR), covers almost 60% of all climate change causing greenhouse gases (GHG). It establishes annual carbon budgets between 2021 and 2030 for each EU country, covering sectors like surface transport, buildings, agriculture, small industry and waste.

This study analysis the impacts and consequences of the adopted CAR with a focus on Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania and Spain.

Delivering the EU-2030 and Long Term Climate Objectives in Central, Eastern and Southern Europe, with a Specific Focus on Transport

Technical Note: Transparency of Modelling

Energy system models play an important role in the process of deriving climate strategies and policies. Full transparency in calculating these long-term scenarios is essential for credibility and reproducibility of the scenarios and the respective climate strategies. Open data and models furthermore enable broad collaboration and increase efficiency by avoiding duplication of work. The technical note gives an overview of the openness aspects of energy modelling, practical advice for progress in that field and summarizes remaining challenges and possible measures. It is part of EUKI project Climate Recon.

CLIMATE RECON 2050 – Intra-EU Exchange to Raise Awareness and Build Capacity on Long-Term Climate Strategies

Report: Funding the Just Transition to a Net Zero Economy in Europe: Opportunities in the Next EU Budget

The next European Multi-Annual Financial Framework (MFF) has the means to underpin Europe’s support to help achieve a just transition to a net zero carbon economy. This report aims to assess the Commission’s recently released sectoral proposals for the period 2021-2027. It explores the contribution of several instruments – Cohesion Policy Funds, European Social Fund Plus, InvestEU, Horizon Europe and European Globalisation Adjustment Fund – to the just transition agenda. It also identifies options for the EU regulator to better align funds with this agenda.

CLIMATE RECON 2050 – Intra-EU Exchange to Raise Awareness and Build Capacity on Long-Term Climate Strategies

Technical Note: Topics of Interest in Context of Modelling for 2050 Long-Term Strategies in the EU and its Member States

When developing decarbonization scenarios, assumptions need to be made, future developments anticipated and technological and economic potentials evaluated. To increase transparency regarding the requirements of the models and to enable an exchange among modelers, the Technical Dialogue was established under the Climate Recon 2050 project and 18 topic clusters for future workshop subjects came up.

Modal Shift Policy Switzerland

Factsheet: Modal Shift Policy (Switzerland)

The Swiss modal shift policy is an ambitious policy package for shifting freight traffic from road to rail. Switzerland is successful with the concept, although not all objectives have been achieved. The study by adelphi and Navigant examines the transferability to the German context.

Tax Deduction Scheme Belgium

Factsheet: Tax Deduction Scheme (Belgium)

The Belgian tax deduction scheme for energy saving investments is currently the only policy instrument at national level aimed at promoting energy efficiency in the industry. The tax deduction scheme targets primarily energy efficiency measures, but also other forms of emission reductions in sectors inside and outside the EU ETS. Adelphi and Navigant examined the transferability to the German context within the framework of the BEACON project.

Technical Note: Low-Emission Mobility & Transport

Transport accounts for about 25% of Europe’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2015 and the emissions mainly stem from road transport fuel. The aim of this technical note is to discuss current practices in modelling policies for a transition towards low-carbon transport. It is part of EUKI project Climate Recon.

Flyer: Young Energy Europe in Bulgaria

Young Energy Europe enables young professionals in Bulgaria, Czechia, Greece and Hungary to extend their education in the fields of energy and resource efficiency. The future Energy Scouts will learn to analyse and reveal saving potentials for energy and resources in their companies. The practical training phase of the qualification offers participants the opportunity to implement their new skills in their company.

This flyer of the project implementer DIHK presents successful savings projects with Energy Scouts in Bulgaria.
