In the context of EU regional policy, two roundtables will discuss lessons learnt from two approaches to local projects. In the first roundtable, BEACON municipalities Agios Dimitrios (GR) and Bottrop (DE) will discuss their experiences, good practices and challenges in their municipal climate partnership. In the second roundtable, Alba Iulia (RO) will discuss their ongoing activities in the area of smart cities. A panel discussion moderated by Navigant senior expert Sarah Hendel-Blackford, with representatives of EBRD, BEACON partner Energy Cities as well as Alba Iulia and Agios Dimitrios will address solutions and financing for integrating adaptation and mitigation planning.

Session co-host Smart Cities Consulting will present the results of a hands-on lab in which, e.g., BEACON municipalities identified climate risks and impacts to their infrastructure projects based on data of their specific location through the CLARITY Climate Services Information System (CSIS) screening tool. Hazard-specific resilient solutions will be presented, guided by pilot initiatives with climate-resilience experiences from select countries.

This session aims at urban and infrastructure planners and developers, municipal decision-makers, energy and climate policy experts with interest in bringing together adaptation and mitigation measures at the local level.

The session is currently fully booked, but if you’re interested in learning more, contact beacon_helpdesk@navigant.com and visit the event page on the CLARITY website.
