This web seminar will take place on 20 February 2024, from 10 to 11:30 am CET. It is the 5th in a series of 6 similar events, all part of EUKI project Ready4NetZero. The capacity building programme is aimed at public officials in the Ready4NetZero pilot cities, as well as other local authorities or stakeholders in Croatia, Hungary, Poland or Romania. During the project, country-specific workshops, online training of trainers events and study visits to Germany will be organised for a transfer of best practices and exchange of experience between local public administrations converging in the development and implementation of long-term local climate strategies.

Language

The debate and whole event will be held in English with simultaneous translation into Croatian, Hungarian, Polish and Romanian.


 

Agenda and Key Topics

This webseminar will:

  • showcase successful models that have been implemented in other regions and
  • provide guidance and support materials to inspire you to take action.
  • share tips and tricks on how to implement climate neutrality initiatives, making them accessible and achievable for everyone.

The event will be divided into two main parts: presentations of experiences by invited experts and time for questions and discussion of the topic:

  • Oliver HÖLCKE is an Advisor for Communications at the European Climate Initiative (EUKI). Oliver is a trained journalist and has worked at various radio stations in Germany for over 12 years. He was responsible for the daily program of a public broadcaster. In 2009 he emigrated to Ecuador and started working at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) there. He not only wrote articles but also took photos and videos together with the indigenous population. From 2015 to 2018 he was responsible for public relations at the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Federal Environment Ministry. He worked for corporate communications at GIZ for a year until he came to the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) as part of the communications team.
  • Allison LE CORRE is a Communications & EU Policy at Energy Cities.  Allison joined Energy Cities in May 2022. As a communications specialist working on EU policy, she is intent on making climate politics more understandable to all and firmly believes in the power of storytelling to advance climate action. At Energy Cities, she has worked on projects supporting cities in mobilizing and engaging citizens and stakeholders in their transitions to a climate-neutral and resilient future. She holds a master’s in political sociology from Sciences Po Paris.
  • Corina MURAFA is an Energy and Climate Independent Public Policy Expert, activist and university lecturer. Corina gives a voice to civil society organizations working in Brussels and Bucharest, as a member of the European Economic and Social Committee and of the Economic and Social Council of Romania. Her work focuses mostly on the just energy transition, energy poverty and ESG transformations in corporations. She is a member of the Romanian Energy Poverty Observatory and a lecturer, PhD, at the Faculty of Business Administration at Bucharest University of Economic Studies, having a solid academic background through studies and long-term fellowships in energy and climate economics and policy at UC Berkeley, Hertie School of Governance, New York University, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. She has collaborated with many non-profit, public, and private organizations, including the World Bank, European Commission, Ashoka, and Deloitte, among others.

 

Ready4NetZero is a project funded by EUKI and coordinated by the Association of Municipalities Polish Network „Energie Cités“, with a consortium of the Ecologic Institute in Germany, Energiaklub in Hungary, REGEA in Croatia and OER Energy Cities in Romania. Ready4NetZero aims to support cities in participating countries in the development and implementation of climate neutrality strategies for 2050 and aims to do so by building capacity, knowledge and skills among local leaders, municipal staff and local stakeholders, facilitating exchange of experience and dialogue between local authorities.
