Combine & Move: The Intermodality Day in Brașov County, Romania
During the Intermodality Day on 7 October 2023 in Brasov, Romania, the partners of EUKI Project HINGE emphasized intermodality by encouraging all project members, locals, and tourists to make a difference together by finding ways to save energy in our daily lives. These include proposals for choosing the bike, to take the bus instead of the car, to explore destinations by public transport, or to combining cycling with other modes of transport such as the bus or the train.
The Intermodality Day in Brasov County promoted using trains, buses, or other public transport infrastructure and facilities by cyclists. Actions taken include:
- Piloting the Predeal – Râșnov – Poiana Brașov bus route with bicycle trailers by the RATBV metropolitan transport company
- Adding more trains with bicycle trailers on the Brașov – Predeal route by the CFR Calători company
Mantaining and promoting the Regio Calatori train line on the Brașov – Zărnești route and RATBV
- Mantaining and promoting the Regio Calatori train line on the Brașov – Zărnești route and RATBV metropolitan transport line 20 with bicycle trailers on the Brasov – Poiana Brasov route
It is hoped that by complementing cycling with other sustainable means of transport, it will make each form of transport more attractive to people on the move and provide a competitive alternative to private vehicles. Reducing air and noise pollution / easing road traffic congestion with cars / increasing the efficiency of the transport network will be among the major changes resulting from the concrete and innovative steps encouraged by this project when we build on the successful experiences that are replicated.
