How EUKI projects enhance the energy transition
As the climate crisis accelerates, the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy is urgent. Thus, we must ensure that the transition towards a net zero economy happens in a just and participatory way, leaving no one behind. WWF Greece as a partner with WWF Germany, WWF Poland, and WWF Bulgaria in the “Just Transition in Eastern and Southern Europe” project, supported by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Ministry of Environment, organised a networking event under the title “Networking meeting of the EUKI beneficiaries in Greece – How EUKI projects enhance the energy transition”.
The event hosted all the programs funded through the German Ministry of Environment in Greece and each participant gave a short presentation on their work. Thanks to the EUKI national networking event, the participants had the opportunity to exchange experience, share knowledge and best-practices.
We, as WWF Greece, would like to thank the German Ministry of Environment as well as the EUKI program for the collaboration and the opportunity to contribute to the Just Transition, securing an inclusive, science-based process, without anyone to be left behind. We would also like to thank all the participants, as well as the Greek Ministry of Environment & Energy for their contribution in this networking event, that can create new synergies and further collaborations.
The meeting was honored by the presence Mr. Giannis Tzortzis, representative of the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy and Chief Legal Advisor of JTDP Committee, Mrs. Mateja Kahmann, Policy Officer, Division for EU Climate & Energy Policy, on behalf of the German Ministry of the Environment and Mr. Benjamin Struss, Energy and Climate Policy Consultant for EUKI.
The event was attended by Efi Korma from CRES, Dimitris Kitsikopoulos from Electra Energy, Sotiria Theofanidou from Hellenic-German Chamber, Ulrich Laumanns as an observer from GIZ, Aris Iktos from INSETE, Panagiotis Panoulis (Municipality of Athens), Vasiliki Asimakopoulou from National Observatory of Athens, George Karalis from NTUA, Nikos Chrysogelos from Anemos Ananeosis Fanis Christakopoulos from DAFNI Network, Lefteris Topaloglou from PED, Athanasopoulos Konstantinos from Sustainable City and Dimitris Tsekeris from WWF Greece.
