Strengthening Circular Construction Practices for Climate Change Mitigation

This publication by EUKI project CirCon4Climate aims to “Strengthening Circular Construction Practices for Climate Change Mitigation” and provides an overview of best circular construction practices for climate change mitigation in Germany.

Chapter 1 describes the raw material consumption and waste generation caused by the construction industry in the EU before providing an overview of demolition and processing techniques (pre-screening, crushing, screening, sorting, advanced sorting). Next, requirements for source materials and end products are set out and described in chapter 3 while chapter 4 deals with the topic “contribution of C&DW recycling to energy saving”. Chapter 5 concludes with an overview of the regulatory framework for recycled building materials in Germany. Quality assurance procedures according to waste law are discussed and the rules for mineral materials are explained.
