Project Video: Just Transition in Bulgaria

One of the toughest measures to tackle climate change is the closure of the mines and coal-fired power plants, which are the largest source of carbon dioxide on the planet. Besides the indisputable benefit to humanity, the end of this era will pose also a serious challenge to the people – tens of thousands of miners and energy workers in the coal regions of Bulgaria will lose their jobs. What will happen to hereditary miners in Pernik and Bobov dol if we do not act now? Where could they look for economic alternatives – watch at WWF Bulgaria movie “Life after coal”, which is part of the EUKI project for Just Transition.
