The current pandemic is changing how we live which has visible effects on the environment. Actions taken to suppress the spread of the virus have revealed that in case of emergency, important measures can be adopted and energy experts are urging Local Authorities to apply the same momentum for reaching climate neutrality.
The Renovation Wave will have a huge impact on cities. The European Commission aims to double the renovation rates in the next ten years making sure renovations lead to higher energy and resource efficiency. This initiative and the pandemic context represent an unprecedented opportunity to re-think the local ‘business as usual’ scenarios, for harmonising the renovation municipal strategies with the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans, for reconsidering the sustainability of our local communities.
