Effie Korma is the Head of Market Development of the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources & Saving (CRES) based in Pikermi Attiki, Greece. Her presentation put a special focus on the targets of the Greek National Energy & Climate Plan (NECP). She showed us the countries current achievements to meet the 2020 RES targets and gave a prospective overview of the ambitious targets that will be set for 2030. Furthermore, she analysed the political priorities regarding RES in Greece, such as fostering RES systems for heating and cooling, or an obligation of a minimum share of RES in the building sector.
CRES is project implementer in the EUKI project ENCREMENCO – Enhancing the Capacities of Regions and Municipalities to Participate in Energy Communities and project partner in Bridging European and Local Climate Action (BEACON). The overarching goal of the ENCREMENCO project is to increase energy efficiency and the use of renewables in Greek municipalities.

The meeting ended with a question round and a general discussion, in which both compared the findings in their countries and analysed, among other things, the public’s opinion on the transition to renewable energy sources. As so often, the answer is ambiguous, however, both agreed that the public’s interest in the topic is noticeable in both countries.
