Dear friends of climate action in Europe,

For the EUKI community, the biggest event of the year is getting closer. We are very much looking forward to the 4th networking conference (#EUKICON22) and to the participants who will come to Berlin in person on 21 and 22 September. If you are or used to be part of an EUKI project and have not yet registered, you can still do so here. The opening session with speakers from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the European Commission and climate leaders from EUKI projects will be streamed live publicly on YouTube.

Also browse the conference page to find all speakers, sessions and what to expect. The program is diverse and aimed at finding answers to the European energy crisis triggered by the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.

Interview: Mainstreaming Sustainable Buildings in Europe

EUKI project manager Aleksandar Jelovac, from the EUKI projects Retrofit HUB and Mitigating Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Heritage Buildings says:

Usually, most people think about the operational cost of using a building and all the energy first… But there is also a sector of extracting resources from earth… This is called embodied carbon which itself accounts for 11 to 12 % of greenhouse gas emissions and has been paid little attention to. We need to focus on both factors.”
